A few weekends back, Patrick and I traveled to Cape May for a long weekend so that I could participate in a photography workshop with a wedding photographer that I truly admire: Kaitlin Noel Photography! I am so excited to share this shoot, because it taught me so incredibly much about shooting weddings in creative and beautiful ways.
The workshop took place at Hawk Haven Winery in Cape May, NJ. When I arrived, I met the bubbly photographer I had been following online for months. As an admirer of her work it was incredible to be able to pick her brain along with the other workshop attendees. We began the session with a question and answer portion where Kaitlin allowed us to ask her anything and everything about the industry. After our questions were answered, I was dying to start shooting! Kaitlin led us over to the table scape that she had styled with a “Pink Lemonade” theme. It was amazing to see how Kaitlin works.
After the table scape lesson was complete we started photographing the bride and groom. They were an amazing couple that really new how to turn on the super model when Kaitlin instructed them. The big take away from the shoot was definitely flow posing. Kaitlin showed us how simple it is to get a wide variety of shots without completely reinventing the wheel. You can have your bride and groom make minimal movements and get entirely different and equally as gorgeous photographs. That really changed my way of looking at how I should be posing couples and gets me incredibly excited about my future brides and grooms!
This workshop allowed me to meet so many amazing photographers. I will definitely be participating in workshops in the future! Great first experience.
